‘Reeds is a professionally run, large organisation but continues to provide a personalised service’ writes The Legal 500 this week as the 2022 edition results are announced. The leading criminal defence and multi-disciplinary firm Reeds Solicitors is recommended as a TOP-TIER FIRM in 2 practice areas and is recommended in a further 3 practice areas.

Top Tier Criminal Law Firm

Recommended Lawyer Legal 500Published this week, the results reveal that Reeds Solicitors are ranked TOP-TIER in the areas of general crime and fraud in the South East, and general crime in the South West in the 2022 edition. This marks another year that the defence practice is recommended as a top-tier firm.

The practice is also named as a ‘firm to watch’ by Legal 500 this year in the area of white-collar crime and fraud, with The Legal 500 stating that ‘in early 2021, Reeds Solicitors significantly bolstered its white-collar crime offering with the appointment of Sundeep Soor, a former fraud and tax practice head at Cartwright King’. Further mentioning that Sundeep Soor ‘has significant experience in matters relating to the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002.’

In addition to white-collar crime and fraud, Reeds were also ranked in an additional 2 practice areas this year, specifically crime in London, and general crime in the North West of England.

Legal 500 Individual Awards

Leading Individual Legal 500 - 2022The firm-wide 2022 rankings aside, Reeds Solicitors are immensely proud to announce that a number of its individual lawyers are ranked this year for their standout contribution to the firm. South West Solicitor-Advocate Stephen Clifford is listed as a leading individual. The Legal 500 mentions that Stephen, who is Partner and COLP in our Bristol branch, has ‘built a reputation for applying a methodical approach to all his cases, enabling him to identify the real issues and to understand even the smallest detail, meaning that those who instruct him can be assured of honest and genuinely informed advice.’

Similarly, Oxford-based partners Stuart Matthews (Head of Private Crime) and Julian Richards (Head of Complex Crime) are both also named as leading individuals in the South East of England. The Legal 500 writes that ‘Stuart Matthews and Julian Richards were both extremely helpful, personable and competent. I felt in very safe hands at all times. They clearly explained the risks whilst reassuring me that they were confident they would be able to help (which they were).’

Rising Star Legal500 - 2022Next Generation Partner Legal500A further congratulations from all of us at Reeds goes out to Andy Lee, Solicitor-Advocate in our Bristol branch, who is named as a rising star. Andy was called ‘approachable and empathetic’ by the Legal 500, saying that he ‘excels at helping his clients feel at ease and building a rapport with them, despite the pressurised situation they find themselves in.’

Reeds would also like to say a huge well done to Partner Nicola Hutchinson, Solicitor-Advocate and Area Manager in our Bristol branch, who is named as a next generation partner. For Nicola, the Legal 500 states that her ‘knowledge of criminal law is outstanding, as is her attention to detail in the careful preparation of each one of her cases’.

Finally, Reeds Solicitors would like to congratulate Tom Brymer, Neil Jarvis, and Mark Abbott who were all recommended by Legal 500 this year.
