Those prisoners who can only be released by the Parole Board must wait for their tariff expiry date or minimum term, to make this application. However, there is a process available to prisoners to apply for a Pre-Tariff Review, which takes place 3 years before a tariff end date.
This application is made to the Parole Board, who can be asked not to release the prisoner, but to instead progress them to the Open Estate (Category D). The process is often long and complicated and unfortunately Legal Aid is not available for you to be assisted by a lawyer.
However, if you are able to fund this matter privately, a competitive fixed fee can be arranged for one of our experienced team of Prison Law solicitors to assist you in a prisoner’s progression to the Open Estate, and to carefully guide you through the process involved.
Contact one of our Prison Law team to discuss your individual circumstances, and for more information about how we can help you. Alternatively, click here to complete your details and one of the team will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
