Arrangements for Children

Susanne Seaton is a Solicitor, working in our family department, based in our Reading branch. Susanne specialises in advising and representing parents and family members in cases where Social Services are involved, both at the preliminary advice stage and once care proceedings have been issued.

Susanne read Jurisprudence at Herford College, University of Oxford, before completing the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, where she achieved a Distinction. After completing her training in London, Susanne qualified as a Child Care solicitor in 2016.

Susanne has experience advising on a wide range of matters, including cases where there have been allegations of sexual abuse, parental alienation, domestic violence and emotional and physical abuse, in addition to cases with an international element. Susanne has experience of conducting proceedings being heard in the High Court and has also assisted on Court of Appeal matters.

Susanne Seaton has a particular interest and expertise in advising and assisting family members who seek to care for a child by way of a Special Guardianship Order. Susanne can provide initial advice in respect of the proposed support to be provided to a prospective Special Guardian and also has experience of successfully challenging negative assessments of family members, resulting in the child ultimately being placed in the client’s care. Susanne also undertakes her own advocacy at court where appropriate.
