Rod Fowler is a Solicitor and leads the family law team at our Oxford office. Rod initially began his career as a criminal defence solicitor and the skill set that he gained in countless appearances before the Court has resulted in him being recognised as a highly competent advocate.
Now an experienced solicitor specialising exclusively in the field of family law, Rod accepts instructions in a wide range of cases, and utilises his talent for advocacy across the full spectrum of the family courts, from the Magistrates Court through to the High Court. His substantial expertise however, mean that he now predominantly represents clients in public and private child law cases, and in advising and representing those seeking support and legal redress as a result of allegations of domestic abuse.
Rod is a member of the Law Society’s Children Panel, which means that he has been recognised as having the necessary skills and experience to represent children as well as parents in care proceedings and private law disputes. As such the majority of his instructions now come not only from former clients, but also from child care professionals, as well as him being appointed directly by the Court to represent children in proceedings.
With over 30 years’ experience in family and child law cases, Rod has in the course of his practise, dealt with most issues in all the main legal forums. Clear communication skills allow him to easily relate to all his clients, be them adults or children; from different spheres of life, and all with diametrically opposed experiences. His ability to establish a true rapport with any client who instructs him means that he is able to ensure they fully benefit from his knowledge and his pragmatic advice, and his vast courtroom experience ensures they not only receive a seamless service, but are assured that their case is always presented persuasively and with the utmost care.
