Robert Conway is a versatile defence lawyer with experience representing clients at every stage of the criminal process from first interview at the police station to conducting serious and complex trials at the Crown Court.
After gaining his higher rights of audience, he has regularly represented defendants at trial in relation to sexual offences, offences of violence, fraud and large-scale drug and trafficking conspiracies.
He has experience defending high profile and complex cases brought by the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) and acted for a defendant acquitted in the SFO’s first successful prosecution of a corporate body for offences of bribery in connection with corrupt overseas payments. He has also represented clients in respect of NCA, CMA and HMRC investigations alongside internal investigations conducted by the civil service, NHS, notable higher education institutions and a global tech organisation. Additional to his criminal work, he has experience representing individuals in the coroner’s court.
Rob has previously held the position of director at a prominent law firm in Central London where he set up and ran a criminal defence department that achieved rapid success and ranking in the Legal 500. As head of department, he mainly represented high-net worth individuals and others who by virtue of their backgrounds in the media, business, and the music industry had public images and significant reputations to uphold. He has acted for prominent sports personalities and members of foreign royal families and represented a client in an extremely high-profile murder trial at the Old Bailey that attracted day-by-day media coverage both at home and overseas.
Robert Conway is regularly sought out for press comment and his burgeoning media profile has seen him featured in The Huffington Pest, Cosmopolitan, Vice and Lawyer Issue as well as appearances on The Jeremy Vine Show and as a guest on the ITV news. He has penned articles for The Times, The Huffington Post and City AM. He is also sought-after for his commentary, which has been published in numerous other publications including Bloomberg, Daily Mail, The Sun, The Express, Lawyer Monthly and The Global Legal Post.
