Raj is a solicitor who works within the Mental Health Teams at our office based in Luton. Although Raj is accredited to represent clients in police stations and Magistrates Courts within the criminal sphere, he now specialises in mental health law, and represents clients in mental health Tribunals. Raj has previously worked in other leading firms, where he has been instrumental in developing their mental health departments.
Raj has experience in representing clients in very serious and complex criminal and mental health cases, including helping clients in high security settings. He represents clients detained under the Mental Health Act before the First-tier Tribunal. He provides advice, assistance and representation to both civil and forensic patients detained under the Mental Health Act including advice and assistance to nearest relatives and family members.
He is naturally very organised, and is able to break down and explain often very complicated legal issues to clients, in a clear and coherent way. Clients benefit from his ability to be able to identify and focus on the main issues in a case swiftly, and is very skilful at dealing with the credibility and reliability of evidences presented by the various parties to a case.
