Paula James is a Crown Court Caseworker based in the Bristol office. Paula undertakes the preparation of crown court cases ensuring that files are ready for trial or sentence. This includes considering evidence, drafting proof of evidence and taking comments on papers, corresponding with clients by letter, phone or over a video conference. Corresponding with client’s witnesses and family where agreed. Paula liaises with many outside organisations during the preparing of cases, the CPS, Court, outside Counsel/Clerks, Probation and Doctors surgeries. Paula liaises with many Experts in various fields that need to be instructed together with Interpreters. Applying for funding for such Experts. Ensuring the files meet Practice standards. Answer the phone.

Paula deals with all aspects of crime. Paula has dealt with various murder cases over the years, multi-handed drug conspiracies and frauds.

Prior to joining Reeds, Paula worked at Allen Hoole Solicitors for 13 years. Paula was also a Crown Court caseworker at that firm. Paula began her career working in Solicitors that dealt with crime back in 1994 when she worked for Gadd & Co Solicitors in Cheltenham starting out as a legal secretary. Paula then became an Accredited Police Station Representative in 1996 and worked for that firm until 2000 when She relocated to Italy to live. Upon my return in 2004, Paula re-joined the Firm working as a Crown Court caseworker until Allen Hoole Solicitors took the firm over.

Paula has excellent communication skills and can liaise with the client on their level. Paula is very organised and proactive on my cases.
