Crown Court

Lauren Bates-Brownsword is a Caseworker based in our Oxford office. Lauren assists the Crown Court team in case preparation across all stages, taking instructions, prepared statements, applications and other legal documents. Lauren is one of the primary points of contact for Crown Court clients and is responsible for assisting the team of in-house advocates, attending court, prison legal visits, conferences and liaising with probation and other services.

Prior to Reeds, Lauren worked at Amicus ALJ as a Caseworker and interned at the Capital Post Conviction Project of Louisiana. Some of her work in these roles include providing remote support for capital defenders in the USA, managing research projects for mitigation, jury selection and case law, conducting legal research and summarised case transcripts, and drafting legal arguments.

Lauren has also volunteered at Appropriate Adult where she supported young persons and vulnerable adults when held in custody at the Police Station, acting independently from the Police to ensure that all processes necessary are conducted fairly and properly whilst the detained person is in custody, as well as ensuring that the person understands their rights, entitlements and is safeguarded whilst in custody.

Lauren is a great communicator who has a passion for client care, ensuring that all of her cases are handled with the highest attention to detail.
