Areas of law:
Magistrates’ Court, Youth Court, Police Station
Laura is a paralegal in the Magistrates Court team, based at our office in Milton Keynes. She assists the Magistrates Court team in the preparation and administration for cases in both the Police Station and Magistrates Court.
Before joining Reeds, Laura also gained experience in family law and prison law, both of which often overlap with criminal defence work and have provided her with a comprehensive knowledge of the issues that can arise in those areas and how they might in turn, affect a criminal case. During the course of her career, Laura has helped a number of individuals many of whom have had very complex needs. Her approachable nature, combined with her skills in communication, mean that she is well placed to take instructions from clients and defence witnesses and having carefully considered the same, subsequently drafts their statements whilst ensuring that clients understand the Court process and their options at each stage of their case.
In addition to this, Laura considers Prosecution evidence and assesses its strengths and weaknesses. She obtains funding for and then facilitates the instruction of experts where required whilst acting as a point of contact with the Courts, Police and the CPS to ensure cases are dealt with efficiently and deadlines are adhered to. Laura is truly passionate about client care and strives to provide clients with a high quality service in every case that she works on.
