Keiya is a solicitor and an accredited Police Station representative in the Magistrates Court Team, based at our Milton Keynes office. She initially came to Reeds Solicitors for work experience in 2013, but having been so impressed with her skills, she was asked to continue working for the firm throughout Law School and she started her training contract with us in 2015.
In the course of her training contract, Keiya has undertaken seats in family law, prison law and has obtained her criminal Higher Rights of Audience qualification, which enables her to represent clients in the Crown Court. During her family law seat, she gained experience in care proceedings and assisted our busy team of solicitors with preparing cases. Her training in criminal defence work, saw her regularly meeting with clients, obtaining instructions and taking witness statements, liaising with the Legal Aid Agency, and instructing experts. She has been involved in cases as wide ranging as common assault, through to attempted murder. She also gained advocacy experience during her prison law seat in representing clients at Adjudications and Parole Hearing.
Keiya is also an accredited Police Station representative and is frequently called upon to assist our clients following arrest. She has experience of advising detained clients in relation to a variety of offences, from theft to rape. Due to the nature of this unpredictable work, Keiya is very adept at thinking on her feet, always ensuing that the interest of her clients are fully protected in interview and during detention, and ensuring that they receive the full benefit of her honest and practical advice.
