Joanna Hooper is a Magistrate’s Solicitor based in our Bristol branch. Jo has experience representing both legal aid and private clients, and is able to tailor straightforward, honest advice to ensure her clients understand and are able to make their own informed decisions. Furthermore, Jo is passionate about the protection of vulnerable individuals at all stages within the Criminal Justice System. Jo will go the extra mile to ensure her clients feel as secure and protected as possible, in what is inevitably often an overwhelming and intimidating environment.
Jo regularly represents those charged with matters dealt with at the Magistrate’s court and have experience of all levels of Magistrates Court proceedings including trials in both the adult and youth Courts. Additionally, Jo has gained significant experience defending some of the most serious matters within Crime. In this capacity, she has acted as the lead solicitor in matters of murder, serious assaults, drug conspiracies and serious sexual offences.
Jo has excellent communication skills and is incredibly organised. She is also empathetic and approachable, ensuring her clients feel secure and are as comfortable as they can be during their case.
