Crime and Investigation
Abigail is a trainee solicitor based in the Crime team at our Reading Office. Abigail previously worked as a paralegal in the family department. Abigail has undertaken the GDL and LPC where she received a distinction at the University of Law. Abigail will work in the Crime and Family departments during the duration of her training contract.
Whilst working as a paralegal, Abigail had her own case load which consisted of public and private law family matters. Abigail also assisted solicitors in the family department with a range of cases including care proceedings, divorce, non-molestation orders and child arrangements orders. Abigail regularly attended PLO meetings where she advised and assisted clients in discussions with the Local Authority. Her years of experience within this field has seen her act for a range of clients who have been both privately paying and legally aided.
Whilst working in the Crime department Abigail assists solicitors in ensuring that cases are ready for trial. Abigail regularly drafts defence case statements on behalf of client’s as well as making and opposing applications to Court. Recognised for her empathetic manner, Abigail regularly meets with clients in person and on the telephone to obtain their instructions and assist with their general enquiries.
Her professional approach to tasks and previous experience as a paralegal means she frequently liaises with solicitors acting for other parties, and the Court. Abigail applies methodical attention to detail to her work and is highly efficient, which makes her a valuable resource to the team.
